[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 342px; padding: 30px; ]can you relate, can you keep up the pace like you're dying for this? The cold air relieved Mason has he stepped out of the bar onto the slightly crowded sidewalk. It smelled like alcohol and cigarettes as Mason pushed through the crowd to a spot close to the corner of the building. He leaned against the brick wall and pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. He sent a quick text to his grandfather, asking to send the butler with the limo. He dropped his phone back into his pocket, not feeling the slight bit of guilt about texting his grandfather at 2 in the morning for a ride. There were bigger things running through his mind at this moment.
He sighed. He felt terrible about walking out on Ella, especially since she had just told Mason the reason she left. He was a father. A father to a little girl whom he didn’t even know existed. His heart ached, thinking he was exactly like his own father. Exactly like the father he had hated his entire life. He didn’t want to be that father. He didn’t want Lilly to end up hating him the way he had hated his own father. But he was a coward. He couldn’t handle Ella and a baby at this exact moment. First, he was drunk, second he was completely stoned. That was absolutely no condition to meet a child for the first time. He couldn’t help wondering if his life would be different, better had Ella stayed here and told him about being pregnant. It made him feel even more like a terrible person. Could their relationship have been that bad that Ella didn’t trust him with a baby? She didn’t trust him to the point where she thought it would be better to leave without telling him?
He had hoped Ella would follow him out, chase after him, but only the slightest part of him actually thought she was going to. Had he been in her shoes, he would have let himself go as well. He pulled out a cigarette from a pack in his pocket; the smell the group of people had left behind gave him a craving. He lit up quickly and took a long drag. The sidewalk was a lot less crowded now that the smokers had disappeared back inside the bar. He contemplated going back in to give Ella a ride home. As he exhaled, he decided it would be best to speak with Ella on a more sober note. There was no sense in fighting drunk. He took another drag from his cigarette and leaned his head against the cold, brick building. He hadn’t realized how much his head hurt until he had reached the cold, fresh air. He was surprised his butler wasn’t here yet. As he finished off his cigarette, a commotion from the bar door caught his attention. A girl and a guy were fighting, as Mason watched on with amusement, the girl spit in his face.
Mason decided to stroll over to them before things got out of hand, when he recognized that the girl was Ella. He picked up his pace to a jog, just as the guy slapped Ella to the ground. “Hey, what the fuck?” Mason called out as he leaned down to Ella’s side. He glanced up to see if the guy was still around, but he had fled. He put a hand on the small of Ella’s back and knelt down beside her. “You all right, tiger?” He knew now was no time for joking, but the nervous, awkward air that lingered between them earlier, hadn’t left. He glanced up as his ride finally arrived. “I’ll give you a ride home.” He offered, standing to his feet; he reached a hand out to her to help her to her feet.
and when you say, i'm not okay. i left my phone in the cab, now you can't get me. |

[/style] ella usually wasnt one for violence, let alone getting this drunk. but tonight was just spiraling out of control and there was nothing she could do to stop it. she had ruined any possible chance of rekindling things with mason, and she had just been pretty much attacked in the parking lot of the bar. she felt everyone buzzing around her, hearing their conversations she managed to move herself to the wall and prop her back against it. she leaned her head on the brick and closed her eyes. she felt a stinging pain on her right cheek and a few tears slipped from her eyes. she was starting to sober up, and she wasnt liking this feeling.
she had just ruined any chance of giving lily a father. what the hell was wrong with her? she deserved that slap, in her opinion. she was a horrible mother. feeling the pit of her stomach turning she was going to throw up. she felt naseaus, disgusted, upset, anxious and all sorts of other emotions. but she couldnt move. she was terrified that someone would try to pull a move like that douche bag just did. she felt the world slowing down, was she going to pass out? hopefully not, she honestly just wanted to die at this point. what more could happen tonight? she had ruined things with mason and ruined her life more then it was. she stayed silent for a few moments before feeling a warmth next to her. she didnt open her eyes, terrified of who it was. actually hoping it was a cop, or a kidnapper, to take her away far away from here.
but when she heard masons voice her eyes flew open and she couldnt help but reach up and hug him. she felt a tear or two stream from her eye but realizing the awkward air that was between them she let go of him suddenly and wiped her eye. looking at the ground she shrugged yeah, i deserved it she simply stated. waiting a few moments she looked back at him, he had offered to give her a ride home. seriously? ella nodded and used his hand to help pick herself off the ground. letting go of it as soon as she was standing, it was icey cold. it wasnt how she remembered him and it killed her knowing that it was her fault he was that way. yeah, please. i need to get out of here. she really didnt want to go home. she didnt want to be near lily.
walking towards his car she paused and looked at him actually you know what, i can go home. i cant be around her in this state. ill just...ill call a cab and go to a motel or something she looked at him and stopped walking. she was partially hoping he would opose to her going, but at this point she didnt think she deserved that much from him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 342px; padding: 30px; ]can you relate, can you keep up the pace like you're dying for this? Mason was taken aback when he was laughed to his feet as Ella flung her arms around his neck. He froze, unsure if he should embrace her or stand there the way he was. Before he was able to make a decision, Ella jerked herself back suddenly and rubbed at her eyes with her hands. “Yeah, I deserved it.” Mason was flabbergasted. No matter the comment she made, or the spit she had spat at him, it was still absolutely wrong to hit a woman. Mason shook his head, immediately disagreeing with her. “Are you kidding me, Ella?” he asked. He hadn’t remembered the last time he had said her name, even throughout this entire awkward night, he hadn’t said her name once. It felt weird as it poured out of his mouth.
She glanced up at him at the mention of giving her a ride home. He had almost forgotten that his limo had pulled up just down the street. He knew Harold hadn’t seen any of this commotion, because he would have jumped out to Mason and Ella’s side. She nodded, accepting the offer, and grabbed a hold of his hand to pull herself to her feet. As soon as she was standing, she let go. Mason blushed at the feel of her soft, warm hands. His were freezing. He was freezing. The night air felt brisk as it whirred through his thin jacket. He pushed his hair back out of his face and nodded at her. “Yeah, please. I need to get out of here.” Mason nodded again and started in the direction of his ride. He heard her stop walking and turned to look at her over his shoulder. “Actually, you know what, I can’t go home. I can’t be around her in this state. I’ll just… I’ll call a cab and go to a motel or something.”
He turned to face her, taking a few steps back to be closer to her. He wanted to reach for her hand, to tell her that he didn’t want to lose her again. But he stood there, awkwardly –stupidly, and just stared at her. Finally, he gathered his thoughts and managed to speak. “Don’t be stupid, Ella. I’m not going to lose you again,” he stuttered. He felt shy saying it. It was the most he had ever spoken to her in two years. He could feel his cheeks warm as a light shade of blush moved in. He stood beside her and placed an arm around her waist, resting his hand on the small of her back. “My apartment is just a short ride away. I’ll make sure to have to back for Lilly in the morning.” He stated, continuing to walk in the direction of his limo. He wasn’t sure is she was going to object, but he hoped she wouldn’t. He had missed Ella, deeply, and to have her back right now was a miracle. He wasn’t going to risk that over some drunken banter they just experienced, or the fact that she had kept Lilly a secret this whole time. He was going to let all that stuff go, especially now that he was a father. He knew it was going to be hard, something harder than he had ever experienced in his life before. But he was willing to work for it. He didn’t want to be like his dad.

[/style] had he actually came back for her? was this actually happening right now, or was she drunkenly passed out on the curb, dreaming this? no she wasnt, it hurt, she was cold, her face was stinging and masons cold hand was holding hers up. everything was moving too fast for her and she felt herself spinning. she was going to crash soon and she needed a place to crash in or else she'd wind up drugged, or dead. the silence that followed the standing up and awkward hug made ella squirm in her dress. she felt uncomfortable, numb, awkward, shy, scared, and anxious all in one. her stomach was doing flips as she stood there, staring at him with a blank drunken look on her face. for once she was the one that needed help, not mason.
maybe this was what she needed, needed to prove that everything was going to be ok. that things could be the way they were. but they could never be the way they were. mason and ella were parents now. god just hearing herself think that made her heave a little. she turned to the side clutching her stomach. she was going to vomit. but instead nothing came out. she turned and looked at him. everything he said was lower sounding then it was. her ears were ringing from the sounds and right now, she just wanted ot be inside of his limo, curled up in his arms, fast asleep. but she knew she had a very awkward, uncomfortable night ahead of vomit, tears and regret. she looked at him as he offered his place. really,,,? youd do that for me after....everything? she didnt know how to put after everything i did to hurt you? so she just ended with everything.
ella didnt deserve this and she knew it. she listened to him say lily's name, it sent chills up her spine. she had almost forgot she told him. she muffled through her bag and finally pulled out her phone unlocking the bright screen. it blinded her and for a split minute she hid her face. but showed him the main screen. it was the picture of a red headed girl, about 8 months old in a bright yellow jumper. told ya. she looks just like you. red hair to her big toes she nodded locking the phone and slipping it in her bag. she noticed his ride was here. she nodded towards it. im about ready whenever you are mase. she looked up at him with true and utmost regret and guilt in her eyes. she really was sorry for what she did, and she was going to do ANYTHING to prove that to him. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 342px; padding: 30px; ]can you relate, can you keep up the pace like you're dying for this? The idea that Ella was actually going to come home with him hadn’t quite registered into Mason’s mind. The fact that he was actually standing here, outside a bar in Miami, after not seeing her for two years with Ella, flabbergasted him. He swore his mind was playing tricks on him, but now that the weed he had smoked earlier was starting to wear off, his mind was beginning to register everything that had just happened. Ella telling him about Lilly, their daughter, him leaving, stumbling back across her outside, everything amazed Mason. And now that she had accepted his offer to spend the night at his apartment, to ride there with him in his limo, it was all so unreal. If someone would have told him that tonight all this was going to happen, he would have laughed in their face and called them crazy. That was the perfect adjective for tonight; crazy. There were only steps away from his ride when Ella finally spoke.
“Really? You’d do that for me after… everything?” He nodded. It was stupid of him to just stand there and nod at her, but he wasn’t sure what else to say. To tell her that he never stopped loving her? That he had missed her and hated her all at the same time? That he couldn’t believe she was here, standing with him, about to come home with him? He didn’t want to scare her so he kept his response sheepish, “I’ve missed you, Ella.”
He glanced at her as she fiddled with her phone and smiled when she squinted at the bright screen. When she flipped the phone around in his direction, his heart nearly stopped. The picture of the little red headed girl on the screen looked like the perfect combination of he and Ella. He wanted to touch the screen, take the phone from her and just stare at the picture all night, but Ella’s voice interrupted him. “Told you. She looks just like you. Red hair to her big toes,” she nodded. As Mason was about to reach for the phone, Ella dropped it back into her clutch. He smiled, unsure of what to say. “She’s beautiful. How old is she?” he asked, staring down at his hands as he busied himself with a chewed fingernail. He looked over his shoulder at the limo, suddenly realizing how much the temperature outside had dropped. She nodded towards the limo and Mason nodded with her. “Yeah, let’s go,” he stated. He led her to the limo and pulled open the door, standing to the side to allow Ella in ahead of him. He was going to do things right this time, if there was going to be a second chance. He wanted things to go perfect this time, less fighting, and he knew he was going to have to change. It was going to be hard, but he was more than willing.
and when you say, i'm not okay. i left my phone in the cab, now you can't get me. |
